Not at all derivative, reminds me vaguely of the Flaming Lips sometimes, and I only mean that as a compliment. Seems to hover around in a space somewhere between popular music and experimental weirdness (the good kind). "Tiny Creatures" is a great big listen, and well worth the download, since it gets better with multiple listens.
